New and Improved Littlest Angel--With Arms!

Hi!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful, magical day. My wonderful friend and neighbor, Fern, told me she thought my Littlest Angel girls should have arms, and then a couple of other people whose opinions I value highly as well, told me the same thing, so, voila!~arms!
I redid Susie with little poseable arms and she is holding a little bouquet of pink milliner's flowers. I also added a green with pink polka dots bow to her head and topped it off with a little pink flower.
Susie is now appearing on ebay. Please take a look when you get a chance. I have a really great new auction template that I just love~ : )

THIRTEEN pounds gone!!!!

And, this time they are STAYING gone!!!
I eat small meals and snacks through the day to keep my blood sugar and energy levels as stable as I can, and I am drinking a LOT of water every day. No sodas, not diet ones either usually. (And, by snack, I mean 2 or 3 bites of a Sargento Reduced Fat Colby Jack Cheese Stick and three prepackaged red apple slices along with a handful of little whole grain crackers). (If I get what I call 'wonky headed', I drink a bit of orange juice). Not getting food from out (like restaurants, fast food) at all. I AM going to reverse the Type II Diabetes. Take THAT, disease! : )
Also, I am just about totally over the bronchitis/Nasty Bug from Hell. I still have a bit of cough here and there if I've exerted more than a little. Albert STILL has a bit of cough from it and it's been weeks for him. : (
Oh, and we are FINALLY getting stuff going on the kitchen!!! The stove/oven will be delivered tomorrow, the floor is getting installed this next week and Albert is picking up some of our ready to assemble cabinets that just came in. Hooray!!! See me doing a limited version of my happy dance?? The cabinets are only the bottom ones. We will still need the kitchen sink, faucet for the sink, countertops, and a dishwasher to complete the bottom row part of the kitchen. After that, we will have to see if we have any money to get the few upper level cabinets we need and the pantry units for on either side of the refrigerator. But we are definitely getting there at long last!! I will post before and after pics as soon as I can.
: )
Love to all,
Cindy

Back in the Land of the Living!

Back in the Land of the Living! And, so eternally grateful to be able to write that!
Still not 100% as yet, but I am getting there. : ) I need to say a big 'Thank you' to my neighbors, Nick and Fern, and to my daughter, Jen, my sister, Debbie, and especially, to my husband, Albert. My sweet neighbor and good dear friend, Fern, was so supportive all during my illness and with the diabetes diagnosis. Her husband, Nick, made a huge pot of special homemade chicken soup for us and I know that Nick's chicken soup was a big part of my recovery from what Jen and I are calling 'the black death'. My sister, Debbie, called often to see how I was doing, even though I wasn't able to talk to her and Albert updated her. Thank you, my sister! And, my sweet Jen. Jen called often to check me and did a bunch of onlline research and came up with lots of diabetic recipes for me. I love you all. As for my husband, Albert: He literally saved my life. He realized I had to get over to the urgent care place and he got me there and stayed right with me every minute. He helped me to the bathroom and back here at home countless times because I was so wonky headed due to the fever, etc. He went out time after time to get whatever food, etc. I felt like having and felt I could have with the diabetes and all. He is truly my knight in shining armor. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, my husband and life partner.
Love and hugs to all. Stay well if you can, and if you get this horrible bug from hell, get to your doctor or to an urgent care place as quickly as you can. Especially if you have an underlying condition.

Where's Cindy?

I swear--if you don't see my around for a while, assume something is wrong. Maybe REALLY wrong.......
Where is Cindy?
Well, I've been having kind of a tough time recently, but I think I'm coming out of the other side of it now. This is the first time I've been able to sit up at the computer in about a week. !!
I was diagnosed about 2 wks ago with Type II Diabetes and doc started me on metformin. The next day after the diagnosis, I started in on eating the way a diabetic needs to to stay well and I started following drs. instructions to lose weight. Two days later, I came down hard with the AWFUL respiratory infection thing that both my daughter and my husband have had recently. I quickly progressed into acute bronchitis and a serious sinusey infection. I've been to the urgent care place twice and to my drs. once in the past week or so. It's almost an exact repeat of what happened to me last spring only this time has been far worse than that was. I haven't been able to get out of bed, just to go to the bathroom, and most of the time, walking there and back was almost more than I could handle. I'm on my second round of antibiotics. This one is a strong one, CEFDINIR.
I'm also fighting bouts of what appears to be low blood sugar, apparently related to the metfomin dose level and related to the fact that I've dropped TEN pounds in a week and a half. That wasn't altogether intentional. Some of the weight loss has happened because I've been so sick.
So, now when I'm asleep, my blood sugar drops too low and I wake up drenched in sweat and with very low blood pressure. (one reading was 91/49.) I haven't been able to check my blood sugar levels because my dr. originally said she didn't think I needed a glucometer. She sure changed her mind about that once she saw how sick I am. Hubby is picking it up this evening. Doc doesn't want to drop my metformin dose down til I give her some numbers but I have to say I don't agree with that. I started at 500 mg. once a day and then increased to two pills a day this past Sat. per Drs. initial instructions and I've been having these weird 'sleep sweats' since that. I should also mention that the significant fever I had with this bug (highest 102.8 at one point) broke last Friday night and is not a factor now with this sweating/low blood sugar stuff.
At the second urgent care appt. they checked my blood sugar and it was 103, almost normal. Also, I had to go to the urgent care place both times, because, again, like last spring, I couldn't get in to see my regular dr. I couldn't even get in on the phone lines.
Just wanted to let you know what's been happening. It has been BAD and really scary. I mean, at a couple of points last week, I really thought I might die. Honest. Must go now.
